The Freelon at Sugar Hill is a new construction mixed-income, mixed-use building supporting the inclusive growth of the Sugar Hill Historic Arts District and serving the Wayne State University and DMC Medical Campus housing needs. The building houses 68 residential loft-style apartments, a 160-stall parking garage and several retail businesses, including Haraz Coffee and Hope for Flowers. Fourteen of the apartments are reserved for veterans who need affordable housing.

The late Phil Freelon’s architectural design serves as a centerpiece of the booming Sugar Hill Arts District. New commercial space, a green pedestrian walkway, and a much needed public parking garage have furthered the revitalization now taking place while ensuring lower income households and local businesses benefit and flourish.
